Michael James Grier (born January 5, 1975) is an American former professional ice hockey winger who played for four teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) – the Edmonton Oilers, Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres, and San Jose Sharks. Primarily a checking forward, he played 1,060 NHL games over 14 NHL seasons. Grier was the first African-American player in the history of the NHL to exclusively train in his home country, the United States.
