Welcome to our guide on how to optimize your gaming experience in Insurgency: Sandstorm. We’ve put together a comprehensive tutorial that will help you remove stuttering and boost FPS in-game, and we hope it will be of great help to you.
Step 1: Modify Engine.ini
Firstly, locate your Engine.ini file, which is typically found in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Insurgency\Saved\Config\WindowsClient. Once you’ve located the file, copy and paste the following lines to it:
[TextureStreaming]
BoostPlayerTextures=1.0
AllowStreamingLightmaps=False
r.Streaming.DropMips=0
r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=0
r.Streaming.MipBias=0
r.Streaming.UseAllMips=1
r.Streaming.UseMaterialData=1
r.Streaming.UseNewMetrics=1
r.Streaming.UsePerTextureBias=1
After adding these lines, save your document.
Step 2: Modify Launch Options
Next, right-click on Insurgency: Sandstorm in your Steam library and select Properties. From there, copy and paste the following launch commands (removing any existing ones):
-USEALLAVAILABLECORES -NoGlobalInvalidation -dx12 -malloc=tbbmalloc/system -NOTEXTURESTREAMING
Step 3: Disable Texture Streaming Pool
Once you’ve added the launch commands, start the game and navigate to your settings. Disable Texture Streaming Pool and exit the game. Remove the launch command “-NOTEXTURESTREAMING” and launch the game again without it.
Step 4: Adjust Texture Settings
Textures may look terrible at first, but don’t worry. Try turning Texture Streaming Pool high and then back off. Now, open the console command by pressing F5 or the tilde key. To return to normal typing, press shift + alt when the console opens.
Once the console opens, type “r.streaming.poolsize-1” and hit enter. This should improve the texture quality while maintaining smooth gameplay and boosting FPS.
Remember that you’ll need to enter the console command “r.streaming.poolsize-1” every time you start the game or change settings.
We hope you find these tips useful in improving your gaming experience in Insurgency: Sandstorm. Thank you for reading.
