In this post, we will provide you with a comprehensive guide on how to change the US title of FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse to Fatal Frame, in case you are a European gamer who finds the Project Zero logo bothersome. We hope this guide will be helpful for you.
Introduction
As a European gamer, if the game’s title, Project Zero, bothers you, you can easily change it to Fatal Frame by following the instructions in this guide.

If you are interested, I have created a similar guide for Maiden in Black Water on steamcommunity.com. However, that one is slightly more complicated. It seems Koei Tecmo has altered some file structures in the newest game.
For this reason, this guide will be brief, and the only change I could make was to the main menu title logo. If you bought the Digital Deluxe Edition, you will notice that the Project Zero logo is plastered all over the Artbook extra. Unfortunately, I have not found a way to change that yet. However, I will continue to experiment with the files and update this guide if I succeed.
Method
To begin, you will need to navigate to the game’s folder on your system. Simply right-click on the game in your Steam library and select Manage -> Browse local files.
Next, double-click on the folders binary -> layout -> ex_texture -> title.

Conclusion
As the game was just released today, I did not have sufficient time to examine the file format thoroughly. However, it appears to be chaotic. Despite the final crash, I discovered that swapping files with some of the other language folders did not change much.
The folder organization in Maiden of Black Water was more straightforward to follow, so I apologize if this guide seems somewhat disappointing in comparison to my previous one. It is strange, but I will keep working on it. Although the primary menu logo was Project Zero when I first began playing the game, after completing the prologue chapter, the title card read Fatal Frame (in a plain font). Unfortunately, the caption could not be altered to the incredible Japanese logo. Nonetheless, I will continue to try.
